Egyptians divided us up
around 6000 years ago
with a duodecahedron
twelve twelve twelve
hours days months

so that we may
examine our lives
every 365 days

with an
entirely arbitrary
measuring stick
to beat ourselves with

life is life is life
and it is for the living
