The Slow That Egos Go

they hover watching, judging
learning (but they would never call it that)
on the lookout
for the obviously condemnable
that they may feel justified
in their slavery to principle
dictated by the unquestionable
POWERS THAT BE
because fear
is how
they count their chickens

so slowly
so slow
do egos go

having never found
sufficient reason
