you can choose
when in choosing
you consider
your surroundings
trees, people, sky,
the ground beneath your feet
as much as yourself
then you may choose
without fear of the future
to choose without fear
without all fear
fearless, joyful, trusting
you're not going to get into trouble
because trouble begins
when you believe you must take
taking is thinking
if you are thinking you are taking
for you are planning
planning ahead to not be without
without what?
without it— connection, love
because you lost that connection
when you considered yourself
above your surroundings
you are telling Mother Nature
that she is behind the times
that she is failing you
ungrateful as you are
to have such

to take joy in
